Alternative Blueprint's blog

So Old-Skool it's Senior, baby!!

Alternative Blueprint is pleased to be doing the soundtrack for a multimedia project conceived & orchestrated by breakdance instructor & general B-boy Tom Willoughby, & filmmaker Russell Scully. Check out the pic below first!!

It's going to be a tongue-in-cheek, multi-faceted take on hip-hop culture & bridging the generation gap - with senior citizen breakdancing hoodie

gangs, fat beats & tasty visual cuts.

There will be several end results - an avant-garde art film, a mockumentary on the youth-culture & hip hop scene, a music video for the forthcoming Automated Acoustics album, & some sonic-art audio pieces using some voice cuts recorded from the Senior Citizen breakdancers during the day.

The final projects will be funny, surreal, avant-garde, occasionally dark & most of all FUN!

Tom teaches breakdancing at festival workshops, does structured group classes & private lessons around the UK, & has studied the art of body movement since he could stand up! He has been teaching this group of very keen senior citizens street dance as a project.

Russell is a Skate Video producer, & with this project is moving into music video production & experimental film making.

Automated Acoustics (Loz Gill) did some location sound recording of the Senior citizens talking, using vocal expressions & narrative stories that will be heard in the final edits & the overall sound design for the project. It will be in the top 5 most-mental sound engineering projects he's ever worked onĀ  ;)

It was an awesome, fun day, the group really got into it - & we totally terrorised the locals until they got up close ;)
There will be some interesting results from the project for sure!! Massive thanks to all the breakers who really got into the spirit of it - legends!

We will keep you posted.... stay tuned....

Both Tom & Russell can be contacted via Alternative Blueprint Records. www.alternativeblueprint.com

(& the video below was taken with my phone, not the nice camera Russell was usingĀ  ;)
